Brian Wigginton is a Director of Engineering at Riyex. He possess expertise in leadership, agile methodologies, web applications, api development, go and 45 more skills. Colleagues describe him as "I've been doing this a long time - coworkers come and go in your life, everyone is unique and memorable in some way, and I'm happy to be a friend to all. Some of these folks are developers you can learn a lot from technically, some you watch and learn how to pull achievability out of a wish and better atomize a problem / constrain scope, and you bump into other folks that make everyone happier and faster in a way that feels unintentional, almost accidental, and still they are the first to volunteer to help a teammate out. But it's just not normal to find someone doing all these things and more, all day and with enough humility that you're sure they'd be surprised to hear, when coworkers get together to talk, how much of an impact they had on people's desire to do the best they can every morning. If Brian accepts this recommendation, just know that it's not because he asked me to write it or that we spent years working together, or that I expect or want him to write anything at all in return. This recommendation is less about helping bwiggs - who won't need it - than it is any employer that needs to choose among qualified candidates. This is the guy to clone, ask *anyone* he knows.", "At SportsLabs, Brian provided a crucial senior leadership role. He was able to bring out the best in his teammates by example and instruction, by balancing pragmatic and agile programming, and by sponsoring tech talks in and outside of the company.", and "If I was fighting in combat, this is the guy I'd want by my side."

Senior Software EngineerEvosure Nov 2014 - Sep 2015Austin, Texas, UsProud of the team we had here. Senior Software EngineerSportslabs - A Silver Chalice Company Dec 2012 - Aug 2014Chicago, Il, UsSuch a great work environment. People, work and office environment were all terrific. We had a ton of fun. Custom CMS - tech lead on a custom CMS tool to manage sports data. Sort of a CRM for sports players and rosters. Campus Insiders - Doing for College Sports what MLB.tv did for baseball. We were the place to go to watch college sports that don't get national TV coverage. You could come and watch rowing, lacrosse, field hockey and more. Rewrote from PHP Silex to Ruby on Rails. Cloudfront CDN, SOLR for full-text search, HAProxy L7 routing to let us do phased deployments. Eventually we did a visual redesign, which needed to have themes per College Conference. Great to work with designers, product owners and other stake holders on this one.Culture Squad - There were a bunch of smart people at SC, I put together a team to work on culture impact at SL. The pancake breakfast every few weeks for the team to relax and get to know one-another was really memorable and unique. On the brainstorming sessions, I learned a lot: You need to have a plan/target/goal when creating brainstorm groups, it's not enough to just throw people in a room with a blank slate, you have to provide constraints/problem to confine and also encourage and guide the creative session. -
