My career path personifies the concept of "unintended consequences." I began my career in the fire department in Santa Monica, CA. I was a fire captain/paramedic and was #1 on the chief's list when I suffered a pretty bad on duty accident which ended my career. So I say I fell into my next job at the J. Paul Getty Trust/Museum in Los Angeles, where I worked for 19 years. I rose through the ranks fairly quickly and became the first Director of Security for the Getty Trust and led a group of over 400 employees operating in five departments. I was privileged to be integrally involved in the planning and construction of the Getty Center. The Getty was responsible for my traveling to more than 40 countries, including most of Europe, and several countries in the mid east, Asia, and South America. I was honored to be asked by the U S State Department to lead a small cultural property delegation to Iraq in 2003. I then joined an old friend, Damon Zumwalt, CEO of Contemporary Services Corporation, in creating an innovative. consulting and contract security staffing company for five years. Finally, I was honored to be asked to serve as an A.V.P. for 7 years at Pepperdine where I worked with the finest people in my career. Pepperdine University's mission and dedication the "purpose, service, and leadership" changed my life. Finally, I was honored to work with the Michaud Insurance Agency/Nationwide Insurance during its transitional first year. Now I wish to take some time to focus on my health and happiness and evaluate my next challenges.
