Reporting directly to the CEO and responsible for hospital-wide IT operations and new technology initiatives including Meaningful Use and ICD-10 compliance:• Worked collaboratively with Huron and the Executive Team to execute performance improvement in the areas of Revenue Cycle, Clinical Operations, Clinical Documentation Improvement, Labor, and Non-Labor. The organization achieved more than $10 million in bottom-line improvement in the first year.• Led a 90-day assessment of UMC’s information technology environment. The assessment covered applications, infrastructure, help desk, IT governance, and department staffing. Findings were summarized in presentations provided to the executive team, strategic steering committee, and UMC board of directors.• Developed an IT strategy supportive of the overall UMC strategic plan. The plan included significant IT capital and operating investments. The plan was presented to the UMC board of directors. The direction was approved by the board and the District city council.• Utilized a mix of direct hire and 3rd party staffing to achieve a rapid ramp-up of IT resources from 6 FTEs to 20 FTEs to support the strategic IT initiatives.• Led the IT department in a successful migration of UMC’s aging MEDITECH server infrastructure to new private cloud hosted infrastructure. • Oversaw the implementation of MEDITECH’s advanced clinical modules including its Nursing/Bedside Medication Verification, Physician Care Management, and ED Management suites. This successful implementation allowed UMC to be eligible for $3.5 million in Meaningful Use EHR incentive dollars.• Managed an approved capital budget of $9 million. -
