Automotive Electrician Apprentice

• Installing, maintaining, modifying and repairing electrical wiring and components on vehicles and heavy plant equipment • Alarm and immobilisation systems installation and repair• Alternator and starter motor overhaul, assembly and repair• Diagnosing problems with the major electrical systems in vehicles, including the battery, ant-lock braking, ignition, electronic fuel injection, transmissions and engine management systems• Ability to understand, interpret and work from electrical wiring diagrams• Handled system start-up, charging procedures and diagnose problems using electrical testing and advanced diagnostic equipment• Communication radio(mobile and base) installation and repair• Vehicle camera, entertainment radio and tracking system installation and repair• Use of hand tools, soldering tools and other electronic assembly tools• Install electrical equipment such as gauges, lighting, alternators, and starter motors in vehicles, and install electrically operated accessories• Carry out general service and preventative maintenance of diesel engines• Repairing of electro-hydraulics equipment• Air conditioning system servicing, repairing and re-gassing.• Carryout diagnosis using Intelligent Tester II and Global Tech-stream• Carry out planned and preventative maintenance• Ensuring safe work procedures, pre-task and continuous risk assessments are adhered to • Fill-up, control and update the maintenance records on daily basisHeavy plant equipment worked on to includes forklifts, earth moving and agricultural equipment.Equipment worked on includes CAT , BELL and JOHN DEERE IN SERVICE TRAINING• Behaviour based safety coaches training• Industrial First Aid• Knowledge of SHE Management Systems(OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001, EMA and NOSA 5 Star System)
