Shipping consolidation and product sourcing from China to the Caribbean.

During the pandemic of 2020, I wanted to get involved by working with The Canadian Shield (Inksmith) as an essential worker. The Canadian Shield produced face shields for healthcare workers and other frontline workers when the country (Canada) was in a major shortage. I started with the company when it was producing a mere 100 shields per day, at the end of my time with the company, it was producing over 1 million shields per week. This allowed me the opportunity to see what it takes to rapidly expand and continuously improve operations on a day-to-day (sometimes hour by hour) basis. Given the opportunity, I rearranged line workers in a manner that increased output by over 200%. This process was adopted by the following shift. I also had the pleasure of operating multiple presses, including one named "Roberta" which was a 30-ton press that pumped out over 100,000 parts per 8-hour shift.

A position I help while attending College in Ontario, Canada. I sold financial and insurance services for Canadian Tire at many different locations across the KW region. During this rather brief period, I attained "best of the best" status in the company, and on some days outsold everyone on the team.

Although this was my first time gained experience in the corporate world, I would often coordinate with the warehouse and those with boots on the ground in order to accomplish company objectives. In this role, I gained experience in negotiating with suppliers in order to get the best rates, ensured shipments were delivered in a just-in-time manner, and purchasing supplies needed for each job. This early experience taught me the importance of company culture and how to work with a team.

A summer job I held during my summer vacation of 2016 where I worked alongside the Operating Manager of Island Petstore. During my time in this position, I was able to acquire competencies in managing employees and overseeing the day to day operations of running a small business.

This was my first job as a teenager. Working from a young age has taught me responsibility and showed me that I can always rely on hard work. I believe it had a big effect on the character I later developed as a man. Here are some tasks I was responsible for:> Assisted shoppers in finding products.> Operated point of sale system.> Maintain thorough knowledge of store merchandise.> Counted money in cash drawers at the beginning of shifts to ensure that the amount was correct and that there was adequate change.> Performed opening and closing procedures.
