I have spent a lot of my career at Board level as a Finance Director or equivalent. I have worked in many types of business – big public companies, private companies, for venture capitalists, and for Remploy Ltd. I also led a management buy out of a division of a major UK Plc.These businesses inevitably had to re-invent their business model to face a new set of challenges and meet shareholder and senior lender expectations. This has led me to a strong understanding of the importance of clear well-evidenced strategy coupled with strong governance including a framework of controls which enable risk to be assessed and managed.I enjoy improving the performance of businesses and organisations, by establishing objectives, evaluating strategies, and developing and implementing plans and budgets to deliver them, as well as creating the appropriate organisation and culture - where people can develop the right competencies - and by providing clear, positive leadership.
