NZ Rugby is currently undergoing a complete digital transformation and as the CTO Iled that charge.Is was a complete overhaul of all the systems, the digital touch-points and the entire way NZR operates!I helped redesign how NZR interacts with all the key stakeholders including the fans, sponsors, players, unions... the list goes on!My role was to not only design and architect the systems that will help us achieve this butalso the build, implementation, roll-out and support of them. At Fairfax NZ (now Stuff), I was tasked with taking an aging infrastructure system (with old school computers that frustrate staff) across New Zealand and make it possible for them to do their job everyday without having a reason to complain about their technology.Its a big vision but I believe that people shouldn’t have to think about their technology, it should just work for them everyday regardless of their location. The Technology team is also supporting the transformation of the overall business, including the implementation of completely new technology. This move to activity based working is revitalising technology where we can and leading the change around being customer focused.We also support the development and evolution of Stuff.co.nz, the go to site for Kiwi’s in search of news, entertainment and the occasional cat video.I am currently building a team of tech-savvy individuals who are "people people" by nature. They need to love to understand the root cause of a tech problem, be switched on critical thinkers who want to do all they can to enable the business to reach it’s goals faster.

Some of my key achievements in my CIO role with our awesome New Zealand Government tourism department included the:• Successful government RFP and roll-out of new major vendor (Datacom), saving over 30% ($1 million+) of the IT spend in the first financial year. • Successful design, implementation and management of the following technologies among many others: Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 (first site in NZ to use both Financials and HR modules). Microsoft Dynamics CRM. Full transition to the Datacom Cloud environment and a mixed IAAS and SAAS model. Full Microsoft Lync integrated suite (voice, video, presence etc). Full Microsoft SharePoint deployment including Document Management and Intranet.

KEY DUTIES• Operational management to ensure the successful operation of the Fonterra infrastructure environment, including NZ and rest of world, LAN/WAN, servers and various other relevant elements.• Vendor management to ensure understanding of current contracts, agreed suppliers, design constraints, and a contribution to development of efficient and effective technology solutions that deliver solutions to the business and aid the achievement of business outcomes.• Capacity management to ensure that there is adequate infrastructure capacity to meet agreed levels of service and performance for both Infrastructure and Applications and report on the correct action required to match capacity and demand and to ensure that use of existing capacity is optimised.• Availability management to provide governance structure with infrastructure providers to ensure that the appropriate availability management processes and techniques are in place and being adhered to and reported on against service targets.KEY ACHIEVEMENTS• Successful investigation and subsequent SIP for Fonterra Chicago office (Feb 2010).• Instigation and operation of proactive WAN fibre upgrade process for NZ manufacturing sites.
