I am a PhD student at Aberystwyth University researching sustainable cultured meat media development in association with Cellular Agriculture Ltd, with ambitions of working within the cellular agriculture sector in the future.I completed my MSc Biotechnology and BSc Molecular Cell Biology degrees at The University of York, where my main interests during undergraduate years involved molecular mechanisms of disease, specifically cancer biology and regenerative medicine. My final year research project gave me skills in bioinformatics and programming whilst exposing me to current research in molecular biology. During my masters degree I was involved in the development of a recombinant protein-based biosensor for heroin and morphine whilst taking courses to improve my data analysis skills. Here I developed a growing interest in the cellular agriculture industry. My masters project involved development of a bacterial-based recycling system for a circular textiles economy.At the end of my undergraduate degree I achieved Top Student Award for class of 2021 from The Royal Society of Biology. I aim to continue to study these areas and expand my interests during my postgraduate years, with hopes to contribute to alternative protein research in the future.
