Data Scientist for a central Manufacturing Engineering data science team. The Manufacturing Engineering team designs the equipment and processes that run the factory. They also build many of the manufacturing data systems, the invisible factory that sits above the physical factory. I worked on manufacturing test algorithms (mostly around the battery) and manufacturing data systems/infrastructure (across many products/production-lines) to track/enforce/analyze/optimize the manufacturing processes in order to build great products at increasing scale. * Co-founded and later led a central manufacturing data science team* Initiated and led development of an internal enterprise manufacturing execution system (“Manufacturing Operating System”)* Developed and administered central data tools: R servers (RStudio Connect, RStudio Pro, Tesla CRAN), web-based SQL access, ETL and data storage infrastructure* Developed 10+ internal Tesla R packages* Built/deployed REST API for testing millions of Li-ion cells/day * Published 100s of pages of central, shared documentation

Manufacturing Test engineer for Powertrain Manufacturing Engineering team, the group responsible for design and building powertrain production lines for batteries, drive units, and charging systems.* Designed and maintained custom test algorithms used on all production Tesla Model S Battery Packs and Cells.* Led data analysis efforts for manufacturing test data and production data – helped develop a growingMySQL production test database (>500GB), along with tools to access/analyze this data.* Taught internal classes on SQL, R, and Tableau to 50+ engineers. Led deployment of Tableau (data-viz software) to Manufacturing. Spoke at Tableau customer conference in Aug 2013.

Manufacturing Engineer in the Powertrain Manufacturing Engineering team, the group responsible for design and building powertrain production lines for batteries, drive units, and charging systems.* Helped build a medium-volume production line from scratch in <1yr to ramp 20x in production volume (from Roadster to Model S).* Designed and implemented custom “Proof-of-principle” manufacturing equipment for prototype ModelS Batteries – equipment designs/patents used on 24/7 Model S Battery production lines* Led investigation of enterprise software purchase (>$1.5M) for Manufacturing Execution System (MES)

Interned within the ~50 person Manufacturing Engineering team developing equipment to build battery packs for the first Roadsters. We shipped Tesla's first vehicles to customers during this historic summer! I worked on component CAD design, wrote software used to manually test all Li-ion cells used in production, and designed custom PCB components for manufacturing equipment.
