I love to shave.That’s not really something that you hear many people say. And I used to hate it. My sensitive skin was the bane of my existence for years, and my face looked terrible because of it. But then I discovered traditional wet shaving, and I was hooked. Better shaves, smoother skin, and less irritation were major selling points, but the fragrances available at the time left me underwhelmed and disappointed. So I decided that, if I couldn’t find the products that I wanted to use, I would make them instead. And with that, I founded Barrister and Mann.That was ten years ago. In that time, I have perfected the wet shaving process and developed one of the best-performing shaving soaps in the world. I have built Barrister and Mann into a global brand, with distribution in more than 15 countries and revenue that approaches the million-dollar mark annually as we speak, all with products manufactured, finished, and shipped by hand.In my role as founder and creative director, I have managed the development and launch of nearly 200 go-to-market products and have had a hand in everything from fragrance design to packaging to production to marketing strategy.I’ve done much of this on my own, with boot-strapped budget and information gleaned from late nights reading formulation manuals and borrowed perfumery books.
