Will is passionate in adding value to others, creating future leaders, and furthering research in medical readiness and integrative medicine – understanding why religions, beliefs, customs and cultures shape health outcomes and impact global security.Col (Dr.) Will Chu is an International Health Specialist (IHS), Air Advisor and a Flight Surgeon assigned to the Air Force Medical Readiness Agency in Falls Church, Virginia as the Chief for Global Health Engagement Education and Training. Dr. Chu considers Texas as home. He was commissioned through the Health Professional Scholarship Program and graduated from Officer Training School with distinction. He completed a joint civilian-military residency in Pediatrics in Dayton, Ohio. In 2012, he obtained his wings and aeronautical orders to become a flight surgeon. Dr. Chu is also a fellow of Daniel K. Inouye Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies.He has previously served as a Flight Commander, Chief of Aerospace Medicine (SGP) and Public Health Emergency Officer (PHEO) advisor to the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) during the Ebola outbreak while stationed in DC. At the Pacific Air Forces, he was the Joint Task Force (JTF) Surgeon for Operation DEEP FREEZE and the Branch Chief of Global Health Engagements. He was also an air liaison officer to Defense Support of Civil Authorities (DSCA) executing Indo-Pacific Command’s humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR) operations, activities and investments. Most recently, Col. Chu completed a short tour in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) as the functioning Command Surgeon and the PHEO to the Senior Defense Official and the US Ambassador during the COVID-19 pandemic and directed Health Affairs operations and services for the United States Military Training Mission (USMTM), the largest US Security Assistance Organization (SAO).He is a chief physician and a rated aircrew in the USAF with regional security cooperation experiences in China, Northeast Asia, South East Asia, South Asia and the Middle East.
