Music Basti is a music education NGO that aims to nurture confidence, skills and a sense of community in at-risk children through a creative learning experience. My key responsibilities include measuring the social impact of the year-long music learning programme. This involves:Devising a research strategy using a variety of qualitative research methods (such as interviews, focus group discussions, and an analysis of the children's creative outputs).Analysing the data gathered according to key performance indicators. Publishing bi-annual reports of the findings as well as press releases.

Researching UK House of Commons select committee meetings.Monitoring parliamentary discourse on topics such as human rights, international development, security, health, public accounts, culture and media, and energy and climate change. Detailed documentation of the policy trends that emerge from committee meetings. This requires: in-depth knowledge of contemporary and historic public policy; conceptual knowledge of the legislative process; familiarity with the common law system; rapid analytic skills that survive under the pressure of strict deadlines (always less that 24 hours); the highest standard of English-language communication skills; and rigorous organisational skills.

Key research responsibilities included:Research Design: identification of themes (such as the Uniform Civil Code or cow slaughter) and selection of research methods (normative and qualitative).Archival Discourse Analysis: comparative analysis of Constituent Assembly debates and contemporary Parliamentary debate.Legal Analysis: key cases were researched and analysed according to the structuring themes.Secondary Literature Review: of Indian political theory writings on secularism since Independence, with some comparative analysis of 'Western' viewpoints.
