My career motivation is to lead and support innovative and Tiriti consistent policy processes that will work towards improving the wellbeing of the environment and Aotearoa. My areas of study (Masters of Public Policy, Bachelor of Commerce in Public Policy & Economics and a Diploma in Psychology) were tailored towards this goal. I have 10 years experience in the public policy sector, both in central and local government, and have been fortunate through my career to get to work with and learn from experts in Te Tiriti me te ao Māori and environmental policy. Through this time I have developed a deep understanding of Te Tiriti and its principles, application of Te Tiriti to policy and particularly in the context of the resource management system.I work at Mahea NZ Ltd as a Principal Associate, providing Te Tiriti and te ao Māori policy analysis and advice on a number of projects. Prior to joining Mahea, I was at the Ministry for the Environment working as a Principal Policy Advisor in the Māori Partnering and Policy directorate working on resource management reform. Before that I worked at the Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment in the Competition and Consumer policy team, undertook my Masters in Public Policy, and worked at the Waikato Regional Council on the co-governed and collaborative water quality policy Healthy Rivers/Wai Ora project.
