I am a thinker. I like to think, to understand things and why they are the way they are and how we might make them better. I am never happier than when studying the past or the present and analysing the forces that created things as they are. Professionally, I want to put these ideas to use through applying my insights into the world into creating meaningful change. At present, I am a teacher, sharing my ideas with young people and debating their worldviews with them.I am passionate about politics, both as a student of history and as someone who believes in making things better. I am fascinated by the competing philosophies that define the 'good life' and the tension between these and the real world of using and maintaining power. I love to analyse the strategy behind public image of people and policies and to think about the means of shaping and shifting public opinion.I am also a problem solver. In fact, I love to solve problems. I am at my most driven when identifying inefficiencies and designing and implementing solutions. I have done this through data analysis, through designing IT systems to produce quick numerical results with complex data, through wholesale change in running a boarding house, through building networks between people and between institutions. If there is a problem that I see that needs solving, I am quick to analyse it, strategise about it and begin to implement my solution.Throughout my career I have built positive reputations for the places I have worked; I have built teams where people work together and I have designed systems to make others' lives easier and their work more efficient. I have moreover sought to inspire others through creating vision and values and inspired confidence from others who have always invested me with significant reponsibility.Aside from work I love to read, to learn, to watch sport and to run. In all these I love to analyse and to understand. I am a passionate sports fan but I'm also a sports tactic obsessive.
