In 1974 Will started his professional career at Racal-Research Limited, where he spent 7 years performing a wide range of research and advanced development activities. Culminating in the design of a high-speed real time computer architecture for digital signal processing applications. Through 1981-1983 at Racal-Communications Limited, Will led a team to make a technology transfer of groundbreaking of digital signal processing systems from research into production. His work led to the launch of a series of new and highly successful and extremely accurate military radio signal detection products. 1983-1989 Will spent six years as Head of Telecoms, at Vodafone. He grew his Telecoms department from zero to a mature design group consisting of over 40 highly qualified staff. As a founder member of the original 10 strong Vodafone team, he helped design the network from scratch for its launch on 1st January 1985 (beating Cellnet by 9 days). BT's Cellnet was overtaken in April 1986. By the time of his departure at the end of 1989, the network exceeded 350,000 subscribers and had become the largest contiguous mobile network in the world. So Will had the rare experience of successfully building a national cellular mobile network from a zero to launch in just over 12 months. In 1990, he established a consultancy business, Goodall Cellular Systems . GCS specialises in network architecture, network establishment and operation, including marketing strategies. He took a lead role in the negotiation of network interconnect agreements with incumbent telco’s on behalf of a number of market entrants and achieved significant uplift in real interconnect revenues running into many millions of US $ per annum. He also supported mobile telephone licence bid work, worldwide.In 1993, after winning a telco licence, he launched Flextel - the UK’s first Personal Numbering service. This has since morphed into multi-featured Virtual & Intelligent Numbering cloud based services.
