Employed as a structural Design Draughtsman using Tribon to produce 2D drawings and 3D models. More recently my job role changed to Structural liaison Draughtsman to support production for the build of 2 aircraft carriers for the MoD.

Initially employed as a 3D structural designer, using Solidworks 2006 - 2009, as well as 2D drafting using AutoCad. 6 months later I was promoted to Drawing Office Manager, managing a team of design draughtspersons. Duties also include the checking and approval of drawings, conducting yearly appraisals, interviewing and recruitment, cut parts nesting and production support – for the build of several aluminium super-sport yachts.

Employed to produce detailed outfit & structural drawings, using AutoCAD, for various hi-speed aluminium vessels.

Specifically employed as a member of the Liaison team based within production to act as the first point of contact for any structural queries directed towards the design office. Working on the Type 45 Destroyer project, using Cadds5 to query any structural issues raised by the yard personnel. After 4 months I was transferred to the design office to produce 3D piping, HVAC and Structural drawings for a 62M Fast Attack Craft for the Greek Navy.

Employed to produce structural, outfit & mechanical design drawings, using Microstation, for the future build of a Cable Laying Vessel & a tug for Saudi-Aramco.

Employed as a Cadds5 3D designer, producing 3D compartment outfit layouts for the future build of a fleet of M.o.D. Type 45 destroyers.

Employed as a senior design draughtsman to produce detailed structural panel & auxiliary seating drawings using Autocad, for the build of an 80m Offshore Patrol vessel.

Employed as a senior design draughtsman covering all disciplines, to produce drawings (using Microstation) for the build of a twin water-jet, GRP hulled, 8m logistic support boat for the Maritime & Coastguard Agency.

Employed as a senior design draughtsman to produce detailed outfit & structural drawings using Autocad 2000, for the future build of an 80m Offshore Patrol vessel.

Duties involved producing detailed arrangement drawings for various Landfill projects, reinforced concrete civil engineering drawings and heavy wall gas pipe arrangements – using both Autocad 2000 and Microstation.

Employed as a structural design draughtsman using AutoCAD r.14 producing design and fabrication drawings for several catamaran aluminium fast ferries and a personnel transfer catamaran for the M.o.D. Duties also included site checking, inspections, lofting and nesting of all cut components involved in the project.

Employed as a structural design draughtsman using AutoCAD r.13 to produce design and fabrication drawings and carry out on-site checking and inspections, for the conversion of a 285M Bulk Carrier to a Dynamic Positioning Pipe Laying Vessel.

The work involved an initial 3 weeks training period on Euclid 3 (3D) version 1.1 based at Brown and Roots headquarters in Wimbledon, London. Upon completion of the training I was transferred to the Ardesier Yard where the design and fabrication drawings commenced for a Floating Production Storage Off-loading vessel.

I was employed as Chief Project Draughtsman responsible for the everyday running of a small drawing office and two trainee draughtspersons. I produced electrical wiring diagrams using AutoCAD r.12, for the installation of synchronisers and various navigational aids for offshore drilling and accommodation modules. Other duties performed were the checking and approval of working drawings and liasing with the customers and suppliers.

I was employed to produce structural steelwork drawings using AutoCAD r.12, for the modification and refitting of an offshore diving-support vessel. The duration of the job included initial quotations to ordering all building materials.

Main duties included producing proposals and working drawings for the Ministry of Defence using AutoCAD r.12. The drawings covered the initial layout, mechanical and domestic services and electrical layouts for a proposed Nuclear underground shelter.

I left school and completed a four-year apprenticeship as a draughtsman. I gained experience in all drawing office disciplines, the drawings being produced in pencil/ink on a drawing board. My main duties included requisition of parts and building materials, checking working drawings, liasing with owners, suppliers and shipyard personnel and participating in Lloyds, M.o.D. and D.O.T.I. inspections and sea trials. During my 4 year apprenticeship I also participated in 6 months of shipyard experience and gained knowledge in all ship fabrication disciplines.
