Point 2 is the UK’s leading software and consultancy firm providing software and consultancy services for property developers, planners, planning consultants and architects. My principal role is to develop a website which allows architects to view an interactive model of their building, using Amazon’s cloud computing, all from within their browser. They can do this without having to travel to Waterslade’s office, and without requiring access to any proprietary software. My focus is on the client experience, while also minimising the cost by dynamically scaling the cloud computing with the number of clients connecting at any time.

MBDA is a multinational integrated defence group providing missile and missile systems for each branch of the armed forces. I worked in the ‘Seekers’ department at MBDA, specifically investigating the viability of including a passive infrared sensor as part of a missile’s mid-life upgrades. At the end of my placement, I presented my findings at the company’s quarterly review and made recommendations for areas of continued research.
