In my current role I provide Business Partnering Financial and Commercial Support to the MoJ Technology Directorate. The Ministry of Justice’s (MoJ) Financial Management Development Scheme is a fast stream programme which provides trainees with experience in a number of different areas throughout the business. During my time on the scheme I worked in:National Offender Management Service (NOMS) | Financial Accounts Team- Assisting with the Q3 and Year End Accounts Production- First point of contact with the National Audit Office for the Q3 and Year End journal samples.- Assisting with the consolidation of inter-company accounts- Review and updating of the NOMS accounting modelHM Courts and Tribunals Service (HMCTS) | In Year Reporting Team- Reporting of monthly management accounts to Corporate Finance, including leading on the 2012/13 Year End Report- Preparation and posting of monthly accruals- Budget management for Finance and Governance Directorate (budget c £13m). This involved budgeting, forecasting and monthly reporting.- Liaising with all areas of the business including senior finance officialsNational Offender Management Service (NOMS) | Public Sector Prisons- Providing Finance Business Partner support for Public Sector Prisons. This involved working closely with individual prisons to monitor costs against budgets as well as liaising with central finance- Creation of benchmarking models to monitor performance of prisons against agreed cost levels.- Financial Analysis of Prisoner’s earnings leading to the creation of a report to streamline and standardise processes.
