Provide regular briefings to staff and management.•Back and Recovery redesign, incorporating the use of MS DPM (Data Protection Manager), EMC Networker and Vranger using Hyper-V and VMware environments connected to fibre channel SANs and Adi2k Tape library with LTO5 tapes.•Working as part of a project team to bring the Council’s Disaster Recovery Procedures up to date.•Migrating over 200 SQL databases off a SQL cluster environment onto separate SQL Instances across several servers using best practices from Microsoft and application vendors.•Upgrading applications running on Server 2000/2003 and migrating them to Server 2008R2 or 2012R2.•Coordinating the move of all Council’s backup infrastructure to a new data centre.•The successful recovery of 93 servers from various states after a major SAN failure on the main infrastructure.
