Bioinformatic researcher: Conducted research on genome of p. aeruginosa searching for drug vulnerability targets. Responsibilities included: * creating Java applet GUI to visualize results of searches and complexity of genome * automating computational-intensive searches of genome using Perl as glue between genome tools, * analyzing and comparing multiple genomes to find conserved patterns and possible evolutionary relationships.

Debugged large Carrier Access Billing System (several million lines of code) reducing memory leaks using bounds checker. System was C++ using CORBA-based middle, along with Clearcase for revision control. Ameritech/GTE partnership dissolved, ending project.

Researched and developed experimental high-power diode-pumped NdYAG laser for communications. Per pulse energy via diode pumping was highest and most efficient at that time. Developed computer model of heat deposition in crystal (2D cross-section only) using relaxation method. Investigated use of Peltier cooling to increase efficiency via active cooling.
