About Will Hunter
I'm a freelance creative producer and PhD student specialising in developing content and creative platforms for public participation in scientific research. Over my career I've worked in a variety of organisations - including museums, universities and music festivals - using creative methods and arts projects to prompt conversations around varying scientific and societal topics, and imagining alternative approaches. Participation, inclusion, collaboration and co-design in an attempt to democratise and diversify the public voice in research have always been very central to my work. As I transition my career into academic research, this approach continues to shape the aims of my PhD. My work interrogates the impacts of neo-liberalism on the 'the University' and how this drives an inequity in the power that exists in participatory research projects. Rooted in Feminist, queer and post-capitalist theory I interrogate the relationship the University holds with society and how we imagine future possibilities.
