Post 53 is the only EMS service in the United States to be operated and managed by high school students. Starting in 1970, the organization has grown out of a basement and turned into a fully operational EMS headquarters serving over 21,000 with the highest quality service and training. Going into their freshman year, candidates take a six-week first-aid class. Selected applicants are then brought through candidacy, where they pass several tests pertaining to basic operations within Post 53. After candidacy, the remaining applicants are brought through to membership, where they begin training to become a rider. During their sophomore year, student members will take a six-month EMT course, followed by a series of exams run by Post 53 and the National Registry of EMTs. As an upperclassman, members face the option to become officers.

Tracked completion steps and progress work by subcontractors throughout the completion process of the project. Worked with school officials and members of the Town of Darien to track completion on the Ox Ridge project, as well as the renovation timeline for the Hindley, Royle, and Holmes Elementary Schools.
