What makes me a highly impactful learning designer.I didn’t do very well in high school; I know what it’s like to struggle in a learning environment. This has given me a deep empathy and compassion for all learners.Despite my own struggles (or perhaps because of them) I was a teacher for 20 years. This means I approach learning design with a wealth of real-world experience, my intuition is an asset. + I am a lifelong learner, driven by my own curiosity about the world. + My education gives me the ability to provide guidance that is grounded in evidence-based pedagogical approaches. + My experience allows me to remain flexible enough to meet the specific needs of the learning and learner context. + I understand people. I can build and maintain rapport with staff at all levels of an organisation. + Educational technology is a passion, I am always looking for ways to leverage technology to improve the learning experience (not just using technology for the sake of it). + Visual design skills are a strength, I strongly believe learning experiences can and should be enhanced by the look and feel. + I am developing a specialisation in Generative AI: Since June 2023, I have been heavily involved in developing the UTS College approach to GenAI in learning, teaching and assessments. This includes leading the GenAI and academic integrity working group throughout 2024.
