As a Captain Royal Marines, I served in a number of different roles, including Operational deployments abroad and at home, participating in International Defence Engagement, capacity building and mentoring, and recruit training. These all contributed to giving me a diverse range of experiences and professional challenges ranging from working with non-English speakers, to balancing cultural and political differences, to working within tight resource constraints whilst being required to deliver considerable results. Working in teams of various sizes throughout my career, I have always had management roles and responsibilities. Towards the end of my career, I specialised in Landing Craft and Amphibious Operations.Delivery of training has played a recurring part in my career and I have been responsible for the training of many groups of various nationalities at all ranges of the training pyramid; ranging from basic training for new recruits to vocational training for experienced servicemen.
