Includes a mix of field work and in-office coordination to plan, implement, supervise, and evaluate the NTP program to plant 2,000+ trees per year in heat-vulnerable neighborhoods.

For my final project in the MLA program I have been in collaboration with South Tucson Mayor Paul Diaz and Equilibrium Properties to design a new master plan proposal for the former Tucson Greyhound Park. I aim to propose sustainable design solutions tailored to emphasize equitable urban heat mitigation for urban communities in the Desert Southwest.

In my role as a Graduate Research Assistant, I had the opportunity to collaborate closely with Kenneth Kokroko on a diverse range of projects. Our first initiative was to provide landscape design proposals to aid in the revitalization of South Tucson Housing Authority. My responsibilities included organizing and facilitating meetings with residents to gather input for our design proposals. Engagement activities with residents involved dot boards, interactive mapping, and using Legos to help participants visualize their ideal outdoor environment. These meetings were critical to properly inform the schematic landscape proposals I assisted in producing.In another project, I aided in the development and presentation of construction drawings of an urban alleyway project for the Marshall Foundation near the University of Arizona main campus. This project focused on improving stormwater management, as well as pedestrian safety, comfort, and accessibility.Furthermore, I had the privilege of co-authoring a peer-reviewed journal article about the significance of cross-cultural and interdisciplinary collaboration in landscape architecture pedagogy. This perspective essay was based on my participation in a joint-collaborative studio in Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico.
