I operate and maintain the specialized Swimming Electronic Timing System at the University of Toronto Athletic Centre, as well as many other major pools in the GTA. We use Omega/SwissTiming's internationally recognized Quantum-AQ hardware and software suite. This includes: – Setting up physical hardware, including Touchpads, Plungers, and Starting Units; – Pre- and post-competition maintenance including cleaning, greasing, and proper storage; – Operating the Timing Software during competitions and continuously verifying their reliability; – Troubleshooting on-the-fly when issues arise and minimizing disruptions to the competition. – Coordinating with Technical Officials to ensure competitions satisfy Governing Body regulations.I also train and mentor Facility staff and Technical Official in the operation and maintenance of the equipment, the verification of system validity and reliability, and how to react to, diagnose, and respond to hardware/software malfunctions and equipment failures.My expertise in this role coincides with my qualification as a Level IV Swimming Technical Official.
