CurrentModeled after the Toyota Management System, I lead our lean transformation efforts as we seek to build a culture based upon Respect and Continuous Improvement. My three primary areas of focus include developing our people, improving our processes, and promoting our "MedStar Montgomery Operating System."Developing our People:I have created training programs and educated hospital leaders on various subject areas including: 5S, continuous flow, daily management, heijunka, kanban, kata & problem solving, leader standard work, mistake proofing, process observations, quick setup, standard work, training within industry, value stream improvement, and visual management. I regularly meet & provide individual coaching sessions with leaders at various levels of the organization.Improving our Processes:I facilitate and coach our three value streams: Perioperative Services, Emergency Department, and Inpatient Services. Responsibilities include: aligning the value streams with hospital goals, facilitating strategic reviews and development of value stream A3s, planning and facilitating kaizen (rapid improvement) workshops, tracking key metrics, and facilitating weekly status updates.Promotion:I facilitate weekly, value stream report-outs to the hospital president by value stream executive sponsors. I orally present Operating System updates at monthly leadership meetings. I draft monthly (previously weekly) articles for our leadership newsletter. I continue to update our Kaizen Promotion Office library. I present on Operating System-related themes at our annual Leadership Development Institute. I also continue to evolve the branding for our Operating System.
