I am a researcher at the University of Michigan and a recent alumni. I majored in engineering physics and minored in electrical engineering. Right now, I am a full time research scientist for 16 months until I begin PhD.My research is specialized in a few areas:1. Advanced electron tomography. Electron tomography enables generation of 3D models of nanoparticles. Advanced techniques leverage priors such as total variation minimization, imposing discrete atomic structure, and also aberration correction, which breaks traditional size-resolution tradeoffs. I reconstruct datasets and also work with powerful analysis techniques.2. Cryo TEM. With h-bar instruments, I have worked extensively on vibration measurement and analysis, and also novel equipment manufacturing. I am one contributor to this now highly successful project that has enabled us to image atomic resolution charge density waves at liquid helium temperatures - a groundbreaking capability.3. Accessible tools. My earliest work in electron microscopy was the mastery of the already started Ronchigram.com project, a free website that teaches microscopists how to tune aberration corrected microscopes (which would otherwise cost thousands of dollars). I added features and improved the user interface. My more recent passion has been The Nanofabricated Atlas of Fourier Transforms. I nanofabricated a comprehensive laboratory of diffraction ranging from basic optical properties to quantum mechanics. Not only is this project visually beautiful, but I have put this in the hands of 15 educators around the world, where it is already integrated into course curriculums and impacting around a thousand students each year, with more to come.
