The primary function of the threat mitigation code is to communicate threat information to third party devices via device APIs (typically RESTful). Designed and implemented a flexible automatic threat mitigation framework that allows rapid development of support for new mitigation device types. Employed the mitigation framework to develop integration support for Palo Alto Networks (PAN), Cisco ASA, Check Point, and Juniper SRX firewalls, as well as Office 365 and gmail email services. Most code was written in Python, Javascript, and PHP, along with a bit of shell script. -

Managed all aspects of software development for Cisco’s Content Switching Module (“CSM”), a Layer 7 server load balancing linecard for the Catalyst 6000 product line. Directly managed a group of seven software engineers with responsibilities for writing microcode for Intel IXP1200 network processors and a PowerPC management CPU. Most software written in C++. Supervised three major and six minor software releases. Aggressively drove the troubleshooting efforts for critical field issues and earned the CSM development team a reputation for customer responsiveness and speed.At its peak, the CSM had dozens of customers and hundreds of modules in the field. Customers included many household name Internet Service Providers in North America, Asia, and Europe, along with numerous Fortune 500 corporations such as Microsoft Hotmail and Ford Motor Company. -

At the time, the product’s L7 matching capabilities were by far the top performing solution in the market. Played a key role in the eventual sale of Netiverse to Cisco.
