Workplace Mediator and Mediator Trainer with over 15 years experience developing and delivering Mediation Services to Managers and Staff in a range of public and private organisations.My interest in mediation and the use of mediation techniques was aroused following many years as a workplace investigator dealing mainly with issues related to equality and diversity.Investigations involve huge amount of energy, time and money establishing the facts of the situation, to provide evidence to establish who was right and who was wrong. By the end of the process (which could take months, or even years), relations between those involved is usually so bad that it is difficult for them to work together.What was needed was for those in conflict to listen and be listened to, rather than to try and prove the other person wrong - to understand the situation from both perspectives. Mediation provides just that. Mediation is about the future, investigation is about the past. Mediation typically take one day, not months or years to complete.

  GENERAL MEDICAL COUNCILRecently completed a two year project providing communication support for Doctors and Lawyers who were Case Examiners for newly introduce 'Doctors Meetings'. These meetings were part of a pilot study to invite Doctors under investigation to attend an interim meeting to discuss the issues, prior to final decisions being made on how the particular case should be dealt with.
