Greater Nashville Area, Tn

As the director of project development in American Structurepoint’s Tennessee office, I have over 36 years of specialized experience in forensic engineering. I offer clients a variety of professional services including origin and cause investigations, scope of damage investigations, construction defect analysis, and litigation support. I also have experience with geotechnical analysis; structural failure analysis for concrete, steel, and wood frame structures; and roofing systems. I also have an extensive background in construction utilizing concrete, steel, wood, asphaltic, and soil materials.

Dallas/Fort Worth Area

As a Senior Forensic Engineer, I performed investigations and produced in-depth forensic engineering analysis and authored reports concerning cause and origin of damages and mechanisms of failure for governmental, commercial and residential structures caused by factors such as; design and construction defects, structural component failure, human error, soil movement, water intrusion, flood, storm damage, fire, earthquake and other manmade and natural causes. I also provided litigation support as required. I routinely investigated and analyzed structural defects in retaining walls, bridges, overpasses, parking garages, agricultural silos, residential structures, commercial structures, boat docks and foundations for these types of structures. These structures consisted of steel, concrete, wood, masonry, soils and other synthetic materials. Also, I investigated and analyzed damage to various roofing materials; including composition shingles, built-up roofing, concrete, tile, synthetic materials and metal. I investigated and analyzed construction processes and contractor operations, reviewed plans, specifications and other contract documents as necessary to determine cause and effect of damages. I also performed review and oversight of three additional engineers and assisted in marketing and business development.

Childress, Texas

As a registered professional engineer, I managed all operations of the branch office in Childress, Texas. I was a Vice President of the company and was under very minimal supervision. I directed the operations with 4 Engineering Technicians and two Engineers in Training (EIT). I was in charge of all activities in the Childress office and all roadway design functions for the company. Under my supervision, we designed all the elements necessary to construct new location roadways and bridges in addition to rehabilitation of existing roadways. Engineering responsibilities included new bridges and foundations, retaining walls, vertical and horizontal alignments, hydraulic studies, drainage structure hydraulic and structural design, traffic control plans, signing and striping, pavement design, right of way determination mapping, surveying, environmental mitigation and geotechnical investigations. I regularly consulted with the design personnel concerning scope of work, design standards, design codes and specification development. I also performed public relations in the form of speaking engagements at local events and civic organizations to promote local projects. In addition, I designed water distribution systems, sewage treatment systems and developed environmental documents. Clients included city and county governments, Texas Department of Transportation and private developers and property owners.

Central Texas

Developed scope of services and prepared proposals, built and maintained client relationships, lead and managed project teams, identified potential clients, created and disseminated marketing materials, developed contracts, managed accounts payable and receivable, human resources, and field installation of products. Designed and developed new engineered precast concrete products, including on-site sewage treatment facilities, sewer manholes, and utility vaults. Produced all plans, drawings, and specifications. Oversaw the manufacturing process, including safety issues and on-site observation of work in progress. Operations required a staff of approximately 20 employees.

Childress, Texas

During this assignment, I was District Engineer for the Texas Department of Transportation in Childress, Texas. I was an executive manager under very minimal supervision. I was in responsible charge of a 13 county area of the Texas panhandle. I worked directly for the Engineer Director of the Department. I was responsible for all design, construction, maintenance and support activities in the district. I had a staff of approximately 250 employees. This included approximately ten engineers, and four engineers in training at any given time. I was ultimately responsible for all projects in the district. Engineering responsibilities included new bridges and foundations, retaining walls, vertical and horizontal alignments, hydraulic studies, drainage structure hydraulic and structural design, traffic control plans, signing and striping, traffic signals, illumination, pavement design, soil testing and analysis, right of way determination mapping, surveying and purchasing, environmental mitigation and geotechnical investigations. I regularly consulted with the design personnel concerning scope of work, design standards, design codes and specification development.

Brownwood, Texas

As a registered professional engineer, I worked for the Texas Department of Transportation in Brownwood, Texas. As Area Engineer I was under general supervision of the District Engineer. I managed a team of approximately 80 employees. I was responsible for the design, construction and maintenance of all roadways in a three county area in central Texas. I had two registered professional engineers and two engineers in training (EIT) that I supervised during this time. Under my supervision, the staff designed all the elements necessary to construct new location roadways and bridges in addition to rehabilitation of existing roadways and bridges. These projects varied in scope, but in total they included design and construction operations for the following functions: new bridges, bridge rehabilitation, foundations, retaining walls, vertical and horizontal alignments, hydraulic studies, drainage structure hydraulic and structural design, traffic control plans, signing and striping, traffic signals, illumination, pavement design, geotechnical soil testing and analysis, right of way determination, mapping, surveying, and environmental mitigation. In addition, I wrote specifications and assembled the contract documents for statewide letting. I also performed public relations in the form of speaking engagements at local events and civic organizations to promote local projects and Department goals. . Also, under my supervision, this team managed these projects while under construction.

Brownwood, Texas

As a registered engineer, I was under the supervision of the Area Engineer. My title was Assistant Area Engineer. I this position, I was responsible for the design and construction projects that were assigned to me. I performed feasibility studies, route studies and designed schematics on minor and major highways. I designed many complete roadway rehabilitation projects. These projects varied in scope, but in total they included design and construction operations for the following functions: new bridges, bridge rehabilitation, foundations, retaining walls, vertical and horizontal alignments, hydraulic studies, drainage structure hydraulic and structural design, traffic control plans, signing and striping, traffic signals, illumination, pavement design, geotechnical soil testing and analysis, right of way determination, mapping, surveying, and environmental mitigation. In addition, I wrote specifications and assembled the contract documents for statewide letting. I led a team of approximately 5 to 8 employees. I also performed public relations in the form of speaking engagements at local events and civic organizations to promote local projects and Department goals.
