Teacher
Over the past two years I have been the class teacher of a year 4 class (ages 8-9) where I have planned and delivered an exciting curriculum which has helped to inspire and motivate pupils. As an early career teacher (ECT) I am responsible for the progress the students make in my class, ensuring there is a positive and healthy working environment within the classroom, and being adaptable to all students throughout the day. I keep up to date with all of my planning for each lesson that I deliver, marking and evaluating pupils work and keeping to deadlines for termly data, assessments and pupil progress documents. Being well-organised is a critical skill to have when being a teacher and I believe this is transferable into any working environment.Within school, I have taken on a subject leadership role. In this role, I have created knowledge and skills progression documents, written school development plans and delivered staff meetings. Furthermore, I was responsible for the implementation of a new curriculum which is currently having a profound impact within the school. Within my presentations, I used strong communication skills to explain and demonstrate how the subject should be taught to the senior leadership team. I believe communication is one of my strongest skills which allows me to work well within a team.I have been able to respond to feedback given from senior leadership members in both my teaching practice and leadership of a subject. Being able to not only reflect on this feedback but to actively respond to it has strengthened my leadership skills and produced a high standard of work. I have also visited other schools to help develop my practice. As well as communicating well with other members of staff, my communication skills were also utilised by interacting with parents on a daily basis. I had the responsibility to ensure that they had a clear understanding of what was happening within the classroom and how their child was progressing.
