At the Lowry Center, I manage the front desk and other operations. Some of my responsibilities include opening the building, closing and locking the building, setting up memberships, signing people in, answering questions, answering the phone, equipment inventory, having a thorough knowledge of how the building works, and knowing what athletic and non-athletic events are happening in and around the Lowry Center. I must show up on time for this job and do my duties properly, otherwise, the building will not be opened for people to use or it will not be secured properly for closed hours. I work with students, parents, other staff, coaches, referees, umpires, and people from outside organizations. I am the first person that people who enter the building see, and they can be entering the building for recreational use, competition, or special events being hosted, which can involve thousands of people entering and exiting the building, such as when the Lowry Center hosts the end of the Peloton. When on the job I must always be available to those in the building, as I am the first line of communication between clients, athletes, delivery workers, outside coaches, and staff. I also work with another student who works upstairs at the gym desk, which is why my official title is "Student Manager". I am CPR trained and certified for this position.

Starting my sophomore year of college, I was selected to be an orientation leader to introduce and help transition first-year students to Kenyon's campus. In this position, I am able to make use of my knowledge of Kenyon's institution and personal experiences to try and make the new students' transition to college life as smooth as possible. Working along with another orientation leader hosting ice breakers, information sessions, activities, Q and A's, and other social events along with one-on-one help sessions are a few of my responsibilities as an orientation leader. I really enjoy helping and talking to people, and this position allows me to put these strengths and passions to use.

Weeding, planting, mulching, trimming, bed design, drainage, and general clean up / maintenance were my main tasks, all completed in the summer for eight hours a day, five to six days a week. At the age of 16, I worked with multiple different adults on a daily basis, and we worked collaboratively to finish different projects. Work locations ranged from commercial buildings to individual client properties.
