As Project Architect for the new sub-surface Crossrail station at Woolwich Will oversaw a team of six in the delivery of a pre-tender single option design for the full station. In parallel to this he coordinated a structural IFC advanced works, detailed design package due for delivery to the contractor April 2013. Will managed major client driven adjustments to the tunnel ventilation system and interfaces with two different developments over and around the station. He also had detailed interface with numerous system-wide engineering contracts and was architectural lead throughout the Crossrail assurance process. As an architect for Crossrail Woolwich Will was tasked with the fit-out design and value engineering of the sub surface box station at Woolwich as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The station consists of a single ticket hall to the west, integrated with the proposed new masterplan for the Royal Arsenal site and a ventilation/fire escape shaft to the east. Will made significant design developments to improve the setting out of the station entrance and the station operation throughout this stage. During this stage he was part of the small design team developing the scheme from a two-week feasibility study through to RIBA D. Will was responsible for design development and coordination of the East End Shaft with other disciplines, interfacing with the client and preparing documentation as part of CRL's assurance review process. Will was architectural assistant for the new DLR station at Pudding Mill Lane. The station design was developed by reworking a previous architect’s scheme which was refused planning permission. Will played a critical role in developing and coordinating the design with other disciplines and assisted in the organisation of the team’s resources and delegation of the work load. Will also worked as the team’s primary technical support in lieu of a project specific CAD Manager. The project developed from RIBA Stage D to Stage E while I was on the project, alongside the development and submission of a Schedule 7 and Town and Country Planning Application.Will also spent a total of 18 months as architectural assistant for the new sub-surface railway station for Crossrail at Paddington. Will worked and part of the team working alongside the engineering team and in close consultation with the Client.
