Hello! I'm Will Schick, currently the Director of Programs and Partnerships at the Asian American Journalists Association. I began my journey in journalism after an 11-year tenure in the Marine Corps, an experience that has shaped my perspective and approach to storytelling. As the former editor-in-chief at Street Sense Media, I've tackled social issues head-on, working to spotlight solutions to homelessness and poverty and to help shape the way journalists across the country report on it.I'm also an active member of the Society of Professional Journalists (serving on the Washington, D.C. chapter board) and the National Advisory Board of the Poynter Institute. In addition, I’m a proud member of the Military Veterans in Journalism Network. I have a Masters in Journalism from NYU and an MFA in Creative Writing from American University, and I speak several languages to varying degrees of professional fluency. I'm passionate about mentorship, diversity in media, and the power of journalism to effect positive change.
