Lead the official charitable partner for the National Park Service. The Foundation raises more than $100 million annually for programs and projects that conserve national parks’ natural resources, preserve the nation’s history and culture, and connect all people to these iconic places. Oversaw the completion of a $550 million Centennial Campaign for NPS in 2018 and will soon launch a $1.3 billion campaign, partnering with other park partners to invest $2.5 billion in the national park system. Work for a 30-member board of directors including the Secretary of the Interior and Director of the National Park Service. Lead a staff of 100.

Served as Secretary Ken Salazar’s primary advisor on matters related to conservation and outdoor recreation. Responsible for leading the Department’s involvement in developing and executing the America’s Great Outdoors Initiative (AGO). Managed external relationships with conservation, recreation, philanthropic, and business groups and coordinated DOI leadership on AGO.

As a Presidential appointee, oversaw the National Park Service (NPS) and U.S. Fish and Wildlife (FWS) leadership on legislative, budget, management, and land conservation issues. Represented the Secretary on the boards of the National Park Foundation (NPF), and National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF), the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation, and the Everglades Restoration Task Force.

Led CCT in raising $18 million in private funds from individuals and foundations to make strategic grants for policy, planning, capacity building, and land protection, resulting in the conservation of more than 30,000 acres of open space. Played a key role in the passage of the state conservation easement tax credit program and a $115 million conservation bond measure.

Served as lead negotiator for the state to create the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary.
