C.L.A.S.S. is a newly formed department within Intermountain Laboratory Services that focuses on research & development and clinical trial endeavors for Intermountain Healthcare and for manufacturing businesses where central laboratory services are needed. Our scope focuses on disciplines as Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, Serology, Mass Spectrometry, Flow Cytometry, Microbiology, Molecular Pathology, and Specimen Processing.

As a Coordinator in Molecular Pathology, I oversee the development of our infectious disease and genomic-based assays and platforms. Such development includes verifying FDA-Cleared assays/platforms, validating modified FDA-Cleared or Laboratory Developed Tests, writing standard operating procedures and managing such projects from experimental stages to clinical productions. I manage such projects by utilizing various resources including the recruitment of staff members and organizing formal project meetings with key department heads throughout the corporation, as needed.Additionally, I oversee the departments technical aspect which heavily involves the development of standard work, designing controls, quality control, quality assurance, and especially troubleshooting and problem-solving assay and/or platform challenges.

As a Senior Technologist in Molecular Pathology and I am experienced in all aspects of our test menu system. I am an accomplished user in multiple molecular platforms, including troubleshooting techniques.I have validated or verified such assays or platforms as: Simplexa H1N1, H1N1 (2009), Quantitative HIV-1, Staphylococcus Protein A, S. aureus by PCR, Warfarin Genotyping, MRSA Advanced Test, IDI-MRSA, Quantitative CMV, Chlamydia and N. gonorrhea, BioFilmChip Microarray, HPV, HPV Genotyping, AmpliPrep/TaqMan Systems, ABi 7000/7500, LightCyclers, SmartCyclers, Amplicor, 4800, Panther, Infinitiy, Infiniti, eSensor XT, Luminex, Integrated Cyclers, GeneXpert, MagNA Pure, and much more.I have progressively participated in management responsibilities as hiring and training staff members, equipment acquisitions, participant in IHC Supervisory training courses, and I promote an environment that supports a positive team-oriented rapport whenever possible. I also actively promote sound judgment and integrity in the establishment, performance, and evaluation of all laboratory testing by applying current Good Laboratory Practices (cGLP). I am an experienced CAP Inspector in Molecular and Microbiology and I am familiar with FDA laboratory guidelines and the Clinical and Laboratory Standards to improve the quality of medical care (CLSI guidelines). I perform laboratory statistics (e.g., Levy-Jennings, chi-square, quartile, etc.), produce monthly reports and query IHCs Enterprise Database Warehouse using SQL principles. CMS was organized to provide a resource of information to clinical laboratories on how to develop, run and maintain a quality driven laboratory by incorporating standard work guidelines.Our services include: initial assessments, designing a footprint laboratory, writing and implement standardized SOPs, organizing workflow, equipment procurement, train staff members and management, and conducting mock inspections for State/Federal Licensures.Technical services include: verifying FDA-approved tests; validating modified FDA tests or Laboratory Developed Tests (LDTs); designing and implementing Quality Control and Quality Assurance procedures; optimizing billing practices; train customers on how to perform these procedures themselves; designing and developing new primer/probe sequences depending upon the customers interests (e.g., proprietary sequences) and more.
