Quality Assurance Department Supervisor
Manufacturing Engineer
The manufacturing engineer position started off as support for an offshoring function, and then was rolled into a internal support function. While working with offshoring duties, the position required interaction with both domestic customers and Chinese manufacturers, acting as a liaison between the two entities . There was heavy documentation requirements, focus on metal part manufacturing, and required print reading / checking skills. Issues with prints were resolved before the quote process, first article reports were reviewed at New Process Introduction (NPI) phase, and any quality assurance support was routed through the position.When the position was rolled into the engineering group, there was an emphasis placed on supporting the assembly department. The position required time studies, review of jigs and fixtures; writing detailed setup and work instructions; reviewing defects, and working directly with customers during the NPI process. Other duties assigned included mapping the plant power distribution, taking power measurements and collecting data on injection mold machines and plastic drying equipment to perform cost justification for new, energy-efficient equipment. Functions included creating jig and fixture designs using SolidWorks for automation projects, modelling the building layout in 3D and checking tooling component design. Further, the position also supported the quality department as a backup Coordinate Measurement Machine (CMM) operator, create profile drawings for quick inspection visual aides and generating a defect code matrix to identify part rejects from vendors, production, assembly and outside vendors.
Project Designer / Field Inspector
This position required working in the field directly with customers, contractors, municipalities and engineers across multiple locations in the Willamette Valley and the Oregon Coast. This position reported to upper management, professional civil engineers and office staff. As time progressed, there was more emphasis placed on project design that was overseen by professional engineers. Field inspection achievements:-Field inspected conduit, water, sewer and storm line installation from initial trenching to final testing-Aided engineers with acquiring data for engineering studies on existing systems and conditionsProject design achievements:-Drafted water, storm and sewer service projects in design phase, supporting documents and final as-build drawings in AutoCAD-Worked with customers, contractors, municipalities and engineers to provide solutions to immediate concerns
