Ensure that the Material Support Manager team delivers expertise in routinely reviewing maintenance depot inventory profiles, to mitigate adverse impact on train performance. Identify and rationalise slow-moving inventory to reduce current and future financial liability.Design, implement and manage a robust strategy to capture national "off-line" inventory. Provide visibility and utilise existing surplus inventory to fulfil requirements in other geographic areas, to drive efficiency.Manage reverse logistics of surplus inventory to the National Distribution Centre. Ensuring demand requirements and condition of inventory are closely managed.Identify root causes for inefficient and uncontrolled business behaviours. Develop and implement robust legacy processes. Capture national qualitative and quantitative safety and financial efficiency data for Senior Management Business Reviews. Provide the expertise and provision for the national Relay Re-servicing Programme. Promoting significant cost savings to the business and encouraging Network Rail’s renewability visionManage and ensure that the national audit team accurately;Perform site safety inspections. Responsibilities within this role included: • Managing railway infrastructure components and inventory for the business delivery unit (DU) • Managing portable plant compliance for the DU• Ensure the engagement of the team and identify the development needs of individuals with frequent mandated and impromptu one-to-one performance reviews• Ensuring ongoing compliance with environmental legislation• Act as Client or Project Manager for building projects within the DU• Reduce waste and rationalise unnecessary spend in the form of various initiatives, including inventory amnesties and extractions of surplus materials.
