For as long as I can remember, I've been interested in the STEM fields. As I matured and honed my analytical thinking skills, I decided to continue this interest and pursue electrical engineering at Virginia Tech. However, my path took an unexpected turn after taking two engaging computer science courses with my electrical engineering studies.My first electrical class was be a challenge, and although I was able to succeed academically, it was this struggle that helped me realize I had a stronger passion for computer science. I made a bold decision in the middle of studying for finals to pivot my major to computer science, a choice that changed my life.Since then, computer science has become my place to explore and create. I began by delving into the foundations of CS theory and various mathematical disciplines. Then I expanded my horizons into the diverse fields of computer science, from software engineering and web development to data science and machine learning.My experience in the world of data began in collaborating with a Virginia Tech research team. Our ongoing goal is to optimize cow diets using data science techniques to enhance individual cow health and milk production. This project helped grow my interest in leveraging data to drive meaningful outcomes.My summer internship at Axtria, a company at the intersection of data science and consulting, further solidified my interest in working with data. There, I had the privilege of contributing to the life sciences industry by working on data engineering and document design in the commercial excellence division.As I begin my senior year, I am actively seeking job opportunities in data-focused roles, such as data engineering, data science, and data analysis for after I graduate. While I have gained valuable experience in data engineering, I am most passionate about analytical problem-solving. I aspire to move into a role where I can use data to make informed decisions and predictions, driving innovation and growth.My journey into computer science and data has been a thrilling one, and I am excited to continue pushing boundaries and making an impact in the data-driven world.
