I’m originally from one of Glasgow’s peripheral housing schemes and I’ve experienced the good, bad and the ugly sides of life. I've learned that effective communication is at the core of any personal growth, successful career path and organisation. I’ve been lucky enough to benefit from the guidance and tutelage of many exceptionally talented people during my time working and studying in Higher Education. My experience and skillset is rooted in 3D & traditional manufacturing, strength of materials and machine element design.I have twin devotions- mechanical engineering and education. Being the voice of those that cannot communicate technical knowledge for themselves, but more importantly teaching people to communicate technical knowledge effectively and improve their subject matter knowledge. In education, I achieve this by helping people recognise the potential within themselves and communicate that effectively to potential employers. I believe a conceptual, theoretical understanding is a useful starting point, but it doesn’t compare to students learning by practice, seeing how something works in front of them. This is the foundation of experiential learning. I've worked with people from all walks of life and found that we all have one thing in common- finding our purpose.
