extensive background in technical support of pc systems, servers, SAN infrastructure, virtualized infrastructure, Citrix, RDS, from being hands on, 'out and about' through to managing a team of technical specialists supporting local government services and schools for many years.past achievements in this field include designing and implementing Active Directory and windows server infrastructure for my local authority employer, designing and implementing storage and virtualization infrastructure, consolidation models and consumption based recharging of services to avoid infrastructure sprawl (before 'cloud' became a thing!) and establishing well proven standards for deploying and implementing infrastructure and services in a consistent, repeatable manner. Now leaving much of that behind to undertake a new challenge, leading a great team who are also rising to new challenges!Focusing on digital transformation, unified communications, integration, SOA and innovation to transform the authority's service delivery, facilitate shift to digital and exploit exciting new technologies such as IoT, Serverless Computing and LoRaWan to benefit the authority, it's individuals and community groups. The core principal being that you base development on Microservices. small functions that 'do one thing and do it well' which together build an overall service - rather than building traditional monolithic systems. the Great benefit is that existing monolithic/legacy systems can easily become part of this where they already do something well, but perhaps don't play to friendly with modern infrastructure and standards. Whack each of these behind a noun/verb REST API and you can achieve pretty much anything!
