Assisting with and guiding students through the creation of a full-scale theatre production, taking to the Minack stage in June of 2011 and 2013 ('Alice' and 'The Arabian Nights' respectively). As part of an off-site project consisting of a large cast of first year undergraduates, undertook Company Manager responsibilities while on location, assisting with the smooth running of the production and the wellbeing of cast members throughout the duration of the run. Continued this role in June 2014 on the 'The Dreams of Sleeping Beauty' production.

The position comprises two separate responsibilities. Roughly half of the working week I support a student with a statement for Special Educational Needs, facilitating their access to the curriculum and providing general class support to the teachers. When not in lessons, I provide administrative support to the Head of Sixth Form, administrating registers, EMA payment, attendance/punctuality, graduation events, and supervising the study area and common room. Additionally I assist the Drama department in preparations for practical examinations, working outside of contracted hours and offering my expertise and experience in the field of theatre.

Alea Theatre comprises four graduates of Central School of Speech and Drama’s various Masters programmes. The company combines the individual skills and abilities of each of its core members to create the foundation for an eclectic way of working. This involves combining, colliding and melding disparate performance practices, texts and other materials; at the heart of their practice is an adherence to chance: the ‘aleatoric’.

Assisting the Head of Admissions and Senior Staff with the processing of admissions, I input data on to specialised software holding student’s personal information, courses of study and school history. The process of admissions engendered a highly structured administrative process, where live data was used and monitored to inform admission policy and decisions. As I worked through an agency on previous occasions, I was specially requested (if available) over two consecutive years, due to the speed with which I familiarised myself with the software and my efficiency in using it.

In this position I support the learning of students with a range of learning and behavioural difficulties, in mainstream and SEN teaching environments. I also support teachers with their lessons when called upon, in a more general ‘classroom assistant’ capacity.

As a freelance Drama Practitioner for Haringey Shed and Dazu, I have devised and delivered practical workshops to a rage of young people – and with a variety of abilities – expanding their skills and experiences in the dramatic arts, focussing on key social and group-interactive skills, and imaginative endeavour. Such projects have differed in duration, ranging from on-going weekly/monthly workshops, to intensive residencies (often in schools or summer clubs).

Working part-time I assisted independent publisher (of translated European novellas) Peirene Press, in raising awareness of and expanding interest in the ‘novella’ literary form; compiling two online resources in the form of a webpage dedicated to ‘novellas’ and an accompanying ‘Facebook Page’, with a view to encouraging engagement and discussion; attending Peirene events as an ambassador of the company; researching hand-selling venues and market locations; manning, when necessary, the company’s roaming store; and updating social networking platforms with news and topical information.

After undertaking a Script Reading course, run by The Script Factory (working out of the Soho Theatre), I undertook freelance script reading for the Bush Theatre and an independent film company. From this training and experience I gleaned a detailed understanding of how to assess the narrative content of both screen and stage plays, endeavouring to make informed recommendations upon further development, and provide useful feedback for the considered authors.

In processing daily income – received through donations, legacies and corporate fundraising initiatives – I was responsible for banking monies to the relevant accounts, and inputting data/financial records on the provided database software (‘Contacts’/Raiser’s Edge). I also maintained office records in the form of hardcopies; filing and distributing paperwork to the relevant records and departments.
