Profile bio

About Will Webb

Two things that I really love are solving problems and helping others. I found so much joy and fulfilment in that while serving in the Army for almost 10 years. After a career ending injury, I had to re-evaluate the next chapter of my life and what I wanted to do with it. I pursued some entrepreneurial ideas, increased my technical skills in software development, and worked with some incredible people in the defense tech and fintech industries. However, what I have found truly fulfilling has been helping others as they seek personal improvement through plant medicine and psychedelic assisted therapy. I benefited greatly from a Heroic Hearts Project sponsored trip to Peru for an ayahuasca retreat, and since then have been volunteering with Fireside Project to help others as they are actively journeying and looking to integrate the insights and lessons learned after their experiences. I founded Elevate Ventures LLC for integration coaching and consulting small to mid-sized industrial companies that are going through transformational growth. The combination of supporting and problem solving in those two arenas is the perfect combination for me in this new chapter of my career.

Listed skills include Leadership, Presentation Skills, Writing, Team Building, and 56 others.

Jan 2022 - Mar 2022

Special Forces Officer

I had a tremendous opportunity to serve as a Detachment Commander in 3rd Special Forces Group. This was by far the most challenging yet rewarding experience of my life and I am forever thankful for my teammates who made serving an absolute pleasure. We were one of the last ODA's to serve in Eastern Afghanistan, and thankfully were able to bring back several of our linguists under a Special Immigrant Visa. I also got to lead the team through a dynamic vulnerability assessment of a secure facility in the United States, which tested our ability to think outside the box. I wouldn't trade this experience for the anything and would recommend it to anyone thinking about going to SFAS.

Dec 2019 - Mar 2022

Army Special Forces

I returned to North Carolina for a second attempt at the Special Forces Assessment and Selection at Fort Bragg. This selection process consists of individual and team events which ensure that candidates possess the Army Special Operations Attributes of integrity, courage, perseverance, personal responsibility, professionalism, adaptability, being a team player, and capability. I was successful this time around, and quickly moved to North Carolina, where I completed the two year Special Forces Qualification Course (also known as SFQC, which was perhaps the most challenging thing I have ever done in my life). The SFQC focuses on core Special Forces tactical competencies in support of surgical strike and special warfare; Career Management Field 18 MOS classification; Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape (SERE); language proficiency; and regional cultural understanding. The qualification course consists of six sequential phases of training, upon completion of which Soldiers earn the right to join the Special Forces brotherhood, wear the Special Forces tab and don the green beret. I was then assigned to 3rd Special Forces Group.

Nov 2017 - Nov 2019

Scout Platoon Leader

4Th Infantry Division, U.S. Army

When I came back to Fort Carson after failing Special Forces Selection the first time, my Battalion Commander presented me with an opportunity to serve as the Battalion Scout and Sniper Platoon Leader. I trained, organized, and led a 36 man platoon focused on sniper techniques and reconnaissance. I managed $20 million-worth of equipment and certified the platoon for an upcoming Afghanistan deployment by successfully leading the Platoon through a month long rotation at the National Training Center in Fort Irwin, California.

Dec 2016 - Nov 2017

Mortar Platoon Leader

4Th Infantry Division, U.S. Army

Because I had success with my first platoon, my Battalion Commander promoted me to take the job of the Battalion Mortar Platoon Leader. In this position, I led and managed a 50 man Mortar team. This position also required me to complete a rigorous 6 week academic course at Fort Benning, Georgia, called the Infantry Mortar Leader Course (IMLC). IMLC provides Army leaders with the knowledge to supervise and direct high angle fires from a mortar element to enable the US Army to prevail in multi-domain and large scale combat operations. I served as the Mortar Platoon Leader for 15 months, and was rated as the #1 Platoon Leader out of 18 in our Battalion. In November of 2016, I made my first of two attempts to pass the Special Forces Assessment and Selection course at Fort Bragg, NC. This consists of a three week tryout that is both mentally and physically demanding. I made it through the first two weeks, but did not complete it and ultimately was given an opportunity to return for a second attempt 9 months later.

Sep 2015 - Dec 2016

Rifle Platoon Leader

4Th Infantry Division, U.S. Army

At my first duty station in Fort Carson Colorado, I led and managed a 36 member Infantry Stryker Platoon. In that job I certified the platoon for a combat deployment through a rigorous 12 month training cycle and a month-long rotation at the National Training Center in Fort Irwin, California. I also led the platoon to win 1st out of 18 Platoons in the Battalion's Best Platoon Competition, which tested our ability to work as a team and complete a myriad of technical challenges over a grueling 24 hour endurance competition. After 12 months of serving as a Platoon Leader here, I tried out to be a Platoon Leader with the elite 75th Ranger Regiment, but was not selected after a grueling two week tryout. This taught me to deal with setbacks and stay positive despite receiving less than optimal news about a job opportunity that I was hoping for.

Jul 2014 - Sep 2015

Army Ranger

Fort Moore, Ga, Us

After graduating from West Point, I completed the US Army Ranger Leader Course (also known as Ranger School). Ranger School is the Army's toughest course and is the premier small unit tactics and leadership school. The Ranger Course is a mentally and physically challenging school that develops functional skills directly related to units whose mission is to engage the enemy in close combat and direct fire battle. I also had to redo two phases of this course (ended up being a 6 month endeavor), which taught me to persevere and never quit.

The mission of IBOLC is to train and develop second lieutenants to become competent and adaptive Infantry Officers, imbued with the Warrior Ethos and prepared to lead infantry platoons in combat.
