About Will Wodka
My career has taken me to parts of this country I thought either didn't exist or would never see. It has also given me a chance to learn so many lessons. I have seen success and I have seen failure. The failures are what have made me humble and hungry to continue pushing forward. I am very passionate and put my heart into my work. I got into journalism to be the voice of the voiceless, tell the truth and give a fair and honest assessment. I believe in giving both sides a chance to speak. Producer
CurrentProducer
Produced 1-hr long wheel that played on rotation throughout the night starting at 5p. I edited much of the content you saw on the air with final cut pro. I enhanced our cold opens to become more of a showcase of the content throughout the entire show. I worked with anchors, other producers, reporters and photographers to bring viewers the stories that mattered across the state. We partnered with five other stations to also use their content as well. I produced original content including a live half hour debate preview show for the third Republican Primary Debate in Miami, FL. For this special we had our anchor live outside the venue while also having reporters in the field. I worked over 26 hours in the span of two days during Hurricane Idalia to provide the latest on the storm and to help keep Floridians safe.
Producer
Over the last three years, I have produced nearly every morning show as well as the noon and weekend morning shows. This includes: 4:30a, 5a, 6a, 8a,9a and 12p on weekdays as well as 6a, 7a, 8a, 9a on Saturday, and 7a, 8a on Sunday. During my time, I have set up interviews, created content for the shows and helped advance stories with reporters. I have also spent time working the assignment desk to flesh out more content and help with breaking news. I have written and published content on the station website as well. Some of my accolades include: helping report on breaking news regarding an officer-involved shooting that spurred a statewide manhunt. I also broke the story of a hockey player accusing another player of using a racial gesture during a game. I have also produced several other breaking news stories both on a national and local level.
Anchor/Producer/Mmj
During his time at this station, Will continued to provide news to the Nebraska Panhandle by reaching out to others to get stories. He can be seen making phone calls, heading out to breaking news stories or enterprising his own. With a camera bag over his shoulder and a tripod in hand, Will would go out and shoot, edit and write his own stories. Back in the newsroom, Will was seen listening to the scanner for anything going on. From listening in and grabbing a car chase to sending someone out to an eatery after intently listening to a possible carbon monoxide leak, he can pick out what to go after. This was all done by multitasking and producing the 6p and 10p shows. His producing role was unique with the 10p show taped to live an hour and a half after the 6p show. Often times Will would have both the 6p and 10p rundown up on iNews working on both at the same time. This however didn't mean the shows were exact copies of each other. Will put in the time to either preview a story in the 6p for an extended version in the 10p or he would have unique and new content in one that was different from the other. Will could also be seen grabbing breaking news between the two shows as well. After producing the shows, Will went on set and provided the news as the sole anchor of both editions. His abilities weren't just limited to on-air. Will also provided content on the station's social media and website platforms. Will is also able to go above and beyond by filling in as the Noon anchor when need be. With his news director at a different station in another state, Will has shown the ability to be self-sufficient.A one man band in every sense of the definition, Will is determined to keep those of the Panhandle informed and is willing to do what it takes to get the job done. Whether it's assignment editor, reporter, photographer, editor, writer, producer, anchor he will do it.
Account Executive/Game Ops Producer And Freelance Broadcaster
Orchestrated the implementation of the game script to ensure all promotions and other corporate contract obligations were met. This entailed calling out for video, audio and graphic elements to play on the video board. I produced multiple videos for the team including off-season player announcements and in-game promotional elements. This also involved helping out with the writing of the script and entertaining fans in-game. I coordinated with the opposing and home teams to provide the video to them of each game at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center after each contest. Sold a three-year deal worth $11,700 to Dominos in the area for an in-game promotion called Pizza in your Seatza. I also sold over 2,000 in magazine advertisement for the "Behind the R;" a three-edition magazine available at the games giving fans an in-depth view of the team. I sold $41,000 in group tickets, season ticket and mini-plans to fans around the Black Hills area. Helped out with the social media aspect of the team while remaining one of the administrators of the team Facebook page. I responded to fan messages, kept a positive dialogue while liking fan support comments and posted various elements such as the "Sights of the Game." Worked well with the graphics coordinator, civic center staff and others to provide a fun and wholesome entertainment. One game in particular was the first ever kids day game for the organization. The videos and in-game entertainment I helped create and implemented gave kids the best experience and from that the team saw those same kids and their parents coming back for more.Attached is a proposal I sent to the ownership on how to help improve the organization and excel in the Media Relations/Broadcast Department. This gave insight into how the team could benefit in profit by selling the broadcast, be in the community with various outreach programs, see progression on the team website, social media accounts and see success in the local media to boost sales.

Corporate Sponsorship Sales And Services And Broadcast Reporter
One sometimes asks, why would my company want to partner with a sports team? For many, they may think why would I spend that much for a billboard? These are not the most uncommon questions, and part of my job entailed helping you find that answer. While holding this position, I first got to know what the company was looking to see from their marketing efforts. Was it more guests in their restaurants, or sell more of their product? In finding those answers, I was then able to discuss the inventory of different elements that would not only provide the best bang-for-their-buck, but give them a respectable ROI. After completion of the sale, I began implementing the elements and coordinating with others in the office to ensure their needs were met while fostering this partnership. I provided reports of performance on the elements with accurate and in-depth analytics including, but not limited to, social media exposure, coupon circulation and fan interaction. During all 36 home games and any additional playoff contests, I managed the puck patrol team to execute all promotional contests, games and create a fun, family friendly environment. This role also gave me an opportunity to run the team' social media accounts during home games to give fans a chance to keep up on the action and see what they may be missing if they did not come to the game. The season also saw my role as a broadcast reporter expand. Working alongside the "Voice of the Grizzlies" Adrian Denny, I continued to host the pregame, intermission and post game reports for all the away contests. Added features in the season included: getting my first taste of play-by-play in the ECHL while calling both preseason contests on the schedule, hosting a half-hour pregame show before each Saturday home game and interviewing the first star on the ice after a win at the Maverik Center.
Account Executive And Broadcast Reporter
As an account executive, I wanted to do more than just sell a ticket. I wanted to sell not only myself but the team that I was working for. I wanted to sell the experience of coming into the Maverik Center and catching the only professional hockey team in Utah. I began by building relationships with season ticket holders, past group leaders and others in the community. Striving to help those create a memorable experience, I sold the idea of watching a game or meeting someone's favourite player. The experience of going on the ice to high five the players as they came out of the tunnel. To me, it was much more than just about the game. It was the passion and the thrill. In doing all that, I racked up a $51,000+ in group tickets, $23,000+ more in company parties and events and $30,000+ in season ticket and mini-plan packages. I also became the first ticket account executive to sell an all-inclusive full-year suite partnership for hockey games, concerts and events. In my pursuit of becoming a broadcaster, the team welcomed my passion with open arms and with the help of the "Voice of the Grizzlies" Adrian Denny, I began hosting pregame, intermission and post game reports for all 36 road contests from the 1320 KFAN studios. This also exposed me to interviews with players and coaches.
Broadcast Intern
After receiving my first taste at the professional sports business from the Monsters, I knew I needed to get more experience and continue learning if I wanted to make it big in the business. While taking a gamble of a lifetime, I moved down to Mississippi where I found an opportunity to get my first chance on the mic with the Mississippi RiverKings of the SPHL. During the internship, I learned more about the sales side of the business while writing press releases and game notes. I was given an opportunity to interview players and coaches before the game and be a part of the broadcast during all 28 home contests.
Media Relations Intern
Within this internship, I received my first taste of the professional hockey business. Working alongside the Communications Coordinator Sarah Jamieson we sent out media passes and delivered upcoming promotional items to the media. I also worked with then broadcaster Doug Plagens to update game notes before each game, have them printed for coaches each game day and go out to the practice facility for interviews. This internship allowed me to grasp and understand what it takes to get the word out to the media and build a strong relationship with them to market the team in the Greater Cleveland, Ohio area.I received my first opportunity to showcase my leadership skills when I was tasked to run the time on ice program during the games. I coordinated a system with the volunteers to ensure we had the necessary hands needed to provide essential statistics for the coaching staffs on either side.Throughout my time with the team, I helped out wherever I could. When the team photographer could not make it to the game, I stepped in and took pictures for the team. When the team broadcaster was not feeling well, I volunteered to write the game story for him. During the games, I delivered stats to the coaching staff of either team and worked closely with Sarah to choose the three stars of the game. After games, I met up with the media to get them player/coach interviews. I would in turn record and upload them to the team website. This internship gave me my first opportunity to learn computer coding and work with infinity pro sports, a website company that is widely used throughout the hockey community. When in the office during the week, I updated the team website and create new pages when need be.Giving back to the community was instilled in me early on while interning with the Monsters. Throughout the season I worked with the media relations and community relations staff to showcase the team in a positive light while getting out into the Greater Cleveland community.
Intern
As an intern I sat on the assignment desk making beat calls to the local police and fire companies. I updated stories on the website and stayed up to date on stories the other stations were running. When I was not on the assignment desk, I went out on stories with reporters and helped with camerawork and gathering information. I then would go back to the station with the reporters and learn how to edit video and write scripts for the story.
