Intern Gis AnalystErcl Jul 2015 - Aug 2015Henley-On-Thames, Oxon, GbProject:Application of ground magnetometry to delineate dyke-related oilfield compartmentalisation of the Tsimiroro oil field, Morondava Basin, MadagascarThe Tsimiroro licence is a structurally complex oilfield that is characteristed by heavy oil which is segmented by high angle faults and continuous dyke bodies. Due to the thermal recovery process an accurate knowledge of these structures is crucial for its subsequent extraction.A previously collected airborne magnetometry dataset allowed imaging of dykes from 5-10m in thickness, following the completion of the first phase of the project the team was able ot delineate dykes of 0.8m in thickness. Utilising my knowledge gained from my previous time at ERCL, I was tasked with assisting other interns in the systematic approach to the expansion of this project. -
Intern GeoscientistErcl Aug 2014 - Aug 2014Henley-On-Thames, Oxon, GbProject:Application of ground magnetometry to delineate dyke-related oilfield compartmentalisation of the Tsimiroro oil field, Morondava Basin, MadagascarFollowing a previous investigation with airborne geophysics, it was found that the resolution of the dataset was not sufficient for the requirements of Madagascar Oil and a ground-based expansion project was proposed. The aim of the which was to conduct an accessibility study, followed up by fieldwork and interpretation of ground-based magnetometry data collected in the Tsimiroro region of Madagascar.I was also tasked with collating and digitising regional geological maps of onshore/offshore Mozambique for use by the field geology team on remote devices. This allowed me to refine my ArcGIS skills for use during my degree studies.
