Served as the representative for North East Georgia on the Coosa North Georgia Regional Water Council and as a back up to the Chairman. Resigned from the North Georgia Water Resources Partnership in Sept 2014 due to family health problems. Resigned in December 2014 from the Council.

After Coats & Clark, Inc. went through a series of mergers and acquisitions, I left to start a new company. That company was Luftex, Inc. Its business plan was based on the principle of air jet entanglement of continuous filament yarns (either colored or uncolored) to produce a bulked yarn for the upholstery fabric industry. Some of these fabrics had to meet the flammability standards set for commercial furniture. Starting a new company with new employees, sales, investors and equipment in a manufacturing environment is challenging. I left the company in February 1990 due to a brain tumor. Fortunately, the company is still functioning in good hands.

Began my career w/ Coats as Chief Chemist in 1975, promoted to Dept Mgr. for all of Wet Processing in Toccoa. From there, I was promoted to Director of R&D for all of North America. As a group, we developed new finishes, a new "black box" sewing thread for the jeans trade, etc. One of the projects, as Chief Chemist, that was most successful was the application of of the theory of diffusion of disperse dyes info synthetic fiber. Used a modified lab package dye machine where we could collect small liquid samples of the dye liquor at any temperature/pressure along with a visible Field spectrophotometer plus a handheld programmable HP 21 calculator, we were able to select those disperse dyes that penetrated the polyester sewing thread at nearly equal rates under production conditions. This reduced our overall production time greatly while improving the quality of the product.

Served as the first Director of R&D for Textile Technology, Inc., which specialized in saving water in the textile dyeing process. Developed techniques for separation of dispersing agent from disperse dyes so they would be soluble in organic solvent.
