Sabbatical
After the sale of Merkle, I took a year and a half off to enjoy time with family. During this time I set up Fizbin Enterprises, LLC and worked on a few select consulting engagements and did advising work with early to mid-stage start-up firms. Then returning to the industry as Americas CEO for Kantar.
Strategic Engagements
Joined Merkle as a company with 700 employees and $170 million in revenues operating in the US. Over 12 years, part of a small executive team that evolved Merkle into the world's leading performance marketing agency, with over 10,000 colleagues, over $1bn in revenues, and operating globally. This growth was achieved through a leadership team and culture that constantly challenged the status quo within the industry and within our own company. Disrupting the industry and fighting as the underdog to lead the revolution of customer driven marketing and advertising. Over the years, this included bringing in talent from non-traditional sources to challenge our thinking and evolve our capability, and over 20 targeted acquisitions. Rather than “buying growth" the acquisition strategy focused on extending and evolving capabilities, to change the way marketing and advertising was planned, targeted, activated and measured. Driving accountability and ROI further up the acquisition funnel. Led several industry go-to-market teams, working closely with innovative clients, leading digital transformation and personalized marketing at scale within their organizations. Scaled and led Merkle’s management consulting practice, enabling clients to plan investment, technology deployment and progress the necessary organizational change. Joined Merkle’s Executive Committee in 2013 and took on the role of Chief Client Officer in 2015, owning revenue, client teams and the go-to-market strategy. Merkle was sold to Dentsu in 2017 and I remained through the earn-out period, supporting integration and transition, and focusing on growth in Merkle's largest clients.
