In 2018, Will made the switch from freelance editor and journalist to full-time media and communications director at a social and economic justice-focused nonprofit policy advocacy organization. He manages day-to-day communications, as well as strategic legislative campaign communications.Will was previously editorical director at Archipelago Inc., a boutique publishing company located in Honolulu, Hawaii. He oversaw editorial content on news blog The Hawaii Independent, and lifestyle and cuture print quarterly Summit.Will started in media at Ka Leo O Hawaii (UH Manoa's student paper), where he served as editor-in-chief for two years. He then went on to work for the now-defunct Honolulu Weekly as an assistant editor of both Arts & Culture and News. In 2013, Will was hired as a political correspondent for The Hawaii Independent, and also began running an nightlife and arts blog called INHNL. In October, 2014, Will helped The Hawaii Independent's publisher, Ikaika Hussey, launch Summit, a premium print product branded as Hawaii's global magazine.Founded in 2008 by Hussey, The Hawaii Independent is a news magazine covering Hawaiʻi politics, society, culture, arts, and education. Produced over 200 different cartoons in strip and editorial format, all of which were published over the course of my time at Ka Leo.
