About Will Caruthers

As an individual who returned to college twenty years after high school, I'd had a great deal of time to think about my strengths and interests before pursuing my degree. Chemical engineering was a great fit for me. Earning my degree (the third person in my family to do so) was a lifelong goal realized, and using that degree in an industrial setting has become a great career. My three years of work in Tennessee as an engineer in the bulk and specialty food ingredients industry was an experience that only confirmed this choice of career direction. I worked in an industry that affects everyone's daily life, that draws its raw materials from the great agricultural powerhouse of the American Midwest, and that employs almost every unit operation in chemical engineering to develop a diverse range of products. I came to have a wealth of knowledge in evaporative separation along with other industrial chemical process that were to play key roles in my current engineering job.For the past three and a half years I've been a part of first AECOM and now Amentum at the Hanford vitrification plant in Washington state. I have been "boots on the ground" through design and construction of the site's Effluent Management Facility (EMF), developed comprehensive procedures for running the facility's evaporator and other equipment using my operational experience in similar systems, and have brought the EMF through startup, commissioning, and into operation. It's been a wild ride.

Listed skills include Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, Creative Writing, Report Writing, and 16 others.
